Niklas Arrhenius will start his comeback as a rotational shot putter tomorrow. He will then compete in Utah against his brother Leif as well as some other throwers.
It does not really matter how far Niklas throws, this is just a meet that he does to stand in the ring and get into the rythm of competing again. We look at it as a good preparation for the Swedish Championships coming up in ten days. Niklas has his best of 19.91m since some years ago and we have said that if he throws between 18.29m (60 feet) and 19m indoors it is a good start. The capacity is much bigger but we go slowly forward.
Kim Christensen and Nick Petersen are getting ready for their second meet in Copenhagen on Sunday. They started out last week in Göteborg and did well. Kim and Nick were here in Växjö yesterday and had a good practice and are both ready for bigger throws than last week. Kim did then 18.72m and Nick an indoor PR of 18.32m.
To the meet in Göteborg comes also Raigo Toompuu that has already done three meets on 18.80m, 18.72m and 18.76m. He has his best of 19.31m since 2008 and did 19.28m last year indoors; his PR is 20.12m outdoors. He is ready to throw that far now or farther.
It is not a bad group of shot putters:
Raigo Toompuu 20.12m
Niklas Arrhenius 19.91m
Kim Christensen 19.65m
Nick Petersen 18.94m
I believe all of them can put the shot over the magic 20m within a year or two.
